Frequently Asked Questions

What does the terms Remy and Virgin mean?

The term Remy is considered the highest grade of natural human hair, with cuticles kept intact. The hair has been cut from a single donor, from root to end with the cuticles going in the same direction. All virgin hair is Remy, but not all Remy hair is virgin. Non-Virgin Remy hair has been usually processed, typically for texture or colour. The term Virgin refers to human hair which is in its original state without being permed, coloured or chemically processed in any way. The natural hair colour of Virgin hair ranges from very dark to medium brown in colour. Virgin hair can be of any ethnic origin, but the best quality hair on today’s market is Brazilian, Malaysian and Peruvian origin.

How much hair do you need for a full head?

A full head usually requires 8 oz. (200g) of hair. All our hair is sold in 4 oz. (100g) bundles, therefore 2 bundles are sufficient for a full weave. However, the quantity varies depending on the length and the fullness of the desired outcome. For more volume and a fuller look, we recommend using 3 bundles (300g) of hair. For lengths 8"- 16" we recommend 2 bundles and for longer lengths such as 18" and over, you would need 3 bundles of hair for a full head.

How is the length measured?

The straight textures are measured true to length. The wavy and curly textures are measured when the hair is pulled straight, therefore wavy and curly weaves tend to look shorter.

Can the hair be curled or straightened?

Since our hair is 100% real human hair, you can treat it as any natural hair. You can straighten or curl the hair as desired.

Can the hair be coloured?

Human hair extensions can be coloured, however it is not recommended to dye the previously processed and treated hair (Indian Remy). The best hair type to colour is Brazilian Virgin, as the hair has not been previously processed, and it takes colour easily. However, you should avoid bleaching the hair completely because harsh chemicals damage the hair.

How long does the hair last?

With proper installation and maintenance, our hair can possibly last anywhere from 1 to 2 years. However, it is important to keep in mind that dying and constant heat styling will shorten the lifespan of the hair. Also depending on the climate, water, products used, care for the hair, brushing, how it was applied, swimming, how often washed, etc. are all factors determining the actual lifetime of your hair. Due to all these factors we can give no guarantee of exactly how many months/years your hair will last.

How to take care of the hair?

You should treat the hair like any natural hair. Use good quality shampoo and conditioning products. You should wash your weave after every 7-10 days for it to remain flowy. When washing your hair, gently wash it in one direction, not in circles. It is important to condition the hair in order to keep it soft and manageable. Also, a paddle brush is recommended for brushing the hair.

How to maintain the hair at night?

You should never go to sleep with wet hair because it will matte your hair. It is also recommended to wrap your hair together in order to avoid tangling.

Can I swim with the hair?

You may go in swimming pools and hot-tubs but you must wash the hair immediately after swimming. If possible avoid swimming in salt water because salt absorbs the moisture out of the hair and will lead to tangling of the hair. We recommend you add a spray in conditioner after swimming.

What is the difference between full lace and front lace wigs?

The main difference between a full lace and lace front wigs is that full lace wigs have lace all around the front and back, whereas lace fronts have lace only from ear to ear. The primary advantage of a full lace wig over front lace wig is that you can wear the hair up or in a pony tail, or other styles which would expose the nape area. Whereas front lace wigs usually eliminate this option, as it doesn’t have lace near the nape area, therefore it can’t be worn up high in a pony tail.

What is the difference between lace frontal and lace closure?

A lace frontal is used to recreate the entire hairline from ear to ear. A frontal gives you the freedom to pull the hair back in a variety of styles. The lace frontal will be used in conjunction with a few bundles of weave. A lace closure is much smaller than a frontal and is used to recreate the natural parting only. They are usually installed on the top of the head, in conjunction with a few bundles of weave. Closures are usually made of lace or silk to give the illusion of a natural scalp.

What are the DO’s and DON’TS in maintaining the hair?

Please remember that the more often you wash your hair, the more flowy/bouncy it will be. It’s important to use a good moisturising conditioner or mask when washing the hair. Also, alcohol free serums and products must be used to avoid the hair drying out and making it frizzy. Most importantly DON’T apply heavy oils on the hair, as they will seep on the hair extensions and weigh it down, as well as cause potential tangling.
